Here is an intresting quick fact about the golden eagle to get you started...
For a long time the Golden Eagle has been a symbol of strength and power, the Golden Eagle was severely killed and persecuted at the star of the century. The season being, the eagle became a favourite target of farmers especially sheep farmers, who shot them at sightings to eradicate the species. At the high point of the carnage between the years of 1942–1962, between 20 000 and 40 000 birds at least were killed in the southwest of the United States.and this does not take into consideration the effects in other countries Although that is all now in the past, the species is still occasionally subject to poaching, eggs thief's, or accidental trapping. the breeding concerns today focus on disturbance by humans. there has also been successful breeding in Ireland and Scotland. During the breeding season, when there is many new arrivals in the nest the Golden Eagle requires vast areas of wilderness to hunt for pray. Usually the eagle's, nest on a steep cliff or very high trees in the heart of their territory, often with an overhanging rock or branch on tree to provide protection for the nest. Every year, resource development in the North by the mining and forestry industries eats away a little more at this undisturbed wilderness that the species needs to survive. and this has been the biggest problem for the eagles is building and construction work as the vast areas that they need to breed are slowly disappearing
